Viñedos Verticales was founded in 2015 by two friends, Juan Muñoz and Vicente Inat, in the stunning region of Axarquía, Málaga.
Organic practices and fermenting only with wild yeasts in tanks and aged in concrete vats on fine lees for five months.
Located close to the Mediterranean, this area is home to old vineyards—some over 130 years old—planted on steep schist and slate slopes. Thanks to the refreshing sea breeze and high altitudes (reaching up to 1000m), the wines here strike the perfect balance of subtlety and flavour.
While Muscat of Alexandria dominates the vineyards, they also grow Pedro Ximénez, used for a dry white wine, as well as Garnacha. Plus, they work with two fascinating, lesser-known varieties: Doradilla for white wine and Romé, which produces a small-batch red that's both elegant and mineral-driven.
Viticulture at Viñedos Verticales is as traditional as it gets, with mules lending a hand on those challenging slopes.
