Gamay from 50 years-old vines on an east-facing, slight slope behind the lovely village of Quincié-en-Beaujolais. On a light soil of granitic sand, the vines are trained in goblets with grassed and flower strips for the flora diversification. Hand-picked, semi-carbonic maceration vinification.
Thivin was established in its "modern" guise by the Geoffray family in 1877, and before them with history dating back to the 12th century, when the estate was given to Humbert III, Sire de Beaujeu.
Today, 6th generation Claude Edouard and Sonja continue the family tradition, incorporating environmentally-friendly practices such as introducing sheep into the vines.
